My grandfather was an architect, boat designer, sculptor and painter so, at a very young age, I was privileged to be surrounded by a world of art and design. My art school experience was a blur, and before I knew it, I was thrust into the bowels of one of the top ad agencies in Capetown. I was known as the “wrist” in the studio. All the concepts were drawn by hand, and they had to be drawn fast, very fast. “Necessity being the mother of invention, I developed a very fluid, "squiggly" pen and ink style of drawing to get the concept across simply and effectively. R.O. Blechman, one of the all-time great "idea illustrators", was a major influence, He was illustrating for the New Yorker at the time.
Over the years my style has evolved into a digital format creating concepts for some of the largest brands in the world to some very successful, multi-million dollar startups. All this experience has left me with a pretty clear understanding of how to take a brief and turn it into a strategically sound concept... on time!
My work has been exhibited in the Toronto AGO sales gallery.
I have just finished writing and illustrating a book on "How to find yourself in the forest".
Plus a few in the hopper. Represented by The Rights Factory - Literary Agent Cassandra Rodgers
